Mapping Diseases

If you are curious about specific aspects of geography, this Maps site offers maps of all kinds. This Medical Geography site offers a lot of information about connections between disease and place, but it flashes lots of ads and can be a complex site to navigate.

Diseases and Statistics

If you seek statistical data about global health, two comprehensive sites worth visiting are WHO Statistics (WHOSIS) and the Center for International Health Information (CIHI). Both of them have extensive statistical information about health and disease categorized for almost every country in the world. They are large sites, however, and are not especially user friendly.

If you need more general geographic data not necessarily focused on health, try three places: World Census, USAID Regional Information, and CIA World Factbook are all good sources of a wide variety of information. If you are looking for information specifically about children, Unicef Statistics is a helpful site.
