Non-Governmental Organizations

Non-governmental Organizations, more commonly known as NGOs, are major contributors to global health. Here are links or lists of links to some of the larger health-related NGOs.

WHO NGO List This is the primary list of all the different NGOs that work with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Planned Parenthood If you don't mind a bit of self- promotion and are interested in reproductive health issues, the international office of Planned Parenthood offers a good web page.

Doctors without Borders This has been one of the more active NGOs recently, especially in areas of conflict. This link points to the USA branch, but offers information about both global health problems and Doctors without Borders.

UNICEF plays an important role in maintaining the health of children throughout the globe.

Carter Center The Carter Center is a collaboration between former President Carter and Emory University. It covers an eclectic range of global health issues: river blindess, mental health, interfaith healing, and guinea worm, to name a few.
